Tencent Media Lab focuses on the research and development of cutting-edge technologies in multimedia and related fields. Industry-leading multimedia data compression engines, immersive media solutions and intelligent media toolkits have been serving a massive global user base through Tencent Cloud, Tencent Video, Tencent Games and other business platforms, delivering significant economic and social impact. On behalf of Tencent, Tencent Media Lab has been actively participating in international standards development since 2018. More than a thousand technical proposals have been adopted into various international standards, with multiple members serving as chairs, editors and other key roles in standard groups. Tencent Media Lab members have received many awards such as the Engineering Emmy Award, Lumiere Technology Award, and the ISO/IEC Outstanding Contribution Award.

Research and Standardization

Accomplished researchers and industry experts at Tencent Media Lab actively contribute to global technology standards groups and industry consortia. Many of our experts lead those groups in the chair, co-chair, or editor positions. More than 1000 technical proposals from the Media Lab team have been adopted by multiple international standards.
